9th Grade Women’s Choir
This choir is the starting place for incoming freshmen female singers with a desire to work on excelling in chorus.  Most singers have previous experience in a choir, but it is not required.  Emphasis is placed on developing basic skills in tone production, performance techniques, musical literacy, and music appreciation.  After school rehearsals and performances are part of this course.  Also, this course is a pre-requisite to auditioning for one of the advanced choirs.

General Chorus
This course is a non-auditioned, entry level choir for any student in grades 9-12 who needs an arts credit or who is interested in furthering their vocal production and part singing.  Emphasis is placed on developing basic skills in tone production, performance techniques, musical literacy, and music appreciation.  After school rehearsals and performances are part of this course.  Also, this course is a pre-requisite to auditioning for one of the advanced choirs.

Quintessential
This is an auditioned group of 5 gentlemen that sing classical, barbershop, pop & art songs.  This group was founded by Joseph Davis (class of 2011).  They meet during lunch and so they live by the term “starving artists.” After school performances and rehearsals are part of this group.  They also compete at MPA’s.

Men’s Ensemble
This is a non-auditioned group for male students in grades 9-12.  No previous experience is necessary, but this group works toward becoming an intermediate level choir.  Emphasis is placed on developing basic skills in tone production, performance techniques, musical literacy, and music appreciation.  After school rehearsals and performances are part of this course.

Dolce Voce
This is an auditioned group of 6 ladies that sing classical, female barbershop, pop & art songs.  This group was founded by Katie Coulter & Mary Stricklin (class of 2011).  They meet on Friday mornings to rehearse but do much of their learning on their own, so sight-reading music is a must.  After school performances and rehearsals are part of this group.  They also compete at MPA’s.

Women’s Chorale
This course is an auditioned, advanced level choir for students in grades 10-12 who have become proficient in vocal production and music reading skills.  Emphasis is placed on developing tone production, sight-singing skills, vocal blending within an ensemble and individual musicianship skills at a more sophisticated level.  After school rehearsals and performances are part of this course. The choir will perform each semester for scheduled public concerts, at district and state choral festivals, and at other festivals and competitions determined by the director.

DHSingers
This is DeLand High School’s premier group of singers.  These 20 students are auditioned and selected from the Concert Choir. They rehearse every Wednesday after school.  They perform all styles of music.  In order to become a member of DHSingers you must be able to sight read and learn your music independently. These singers are called on to perform all over DeLand.  They represent DeLand High School well.

Concert Choir
This course is an auditioned, advanced level choir for students in grades 10-12 who excel in vocal production and music reading skills.  Emphasis is placed on fostering independence in musicianship, performance techniques and aesthetic awareness through rehearsal and performance of difficult choral music. After school rehearsals and performances are part of this course. The choir will perform each semester for scheduled public concerts, at district and state choral festivals, and at other festivals and competitions as determined by the director.
